 Call Before You Dig   DigDog
 SC8111

Simple digging jobs can damage utility lines, which can disrupt service to an entire neighborhood, cause bodily harm, and potentially result in fines and repair costs. Every digging job, even small projects like planting trees and shrubs, requires a call to locate utility lines.

If it requires a shovel, it requires a call to SC811!

SC State Law
requires 3 working days notice

mobile
Allow 3 full working days excluding weekends and holidays, for the locators to mark the area. After a ticket has been processed, you will know when you are legally able to proceed with the digging work and which utilities in the area  will be notified for you. Once the lines are marked you are ready to dig (use the color chart below to know which lines have been located). Keep in mind you need to have a
2 ½ ft allowance on either side of the marked lines. Your request is good for 10 working days after it has been processed by SC811.

Member Utility Lines  &  PRIVATE UTILITY LINES

SC811 member utilities only mark the lines they install and maintain. Private lines are not marked.

faqs

Make sure you know where your gas lines and other utility lines including power, water, cable, etc., run before excavating any areas of your property for improvements.

Call 811 before you dig to have the underground utilities marked for free, but keep in mind these are the utility lines maintained by the utility up to your meter.

Private lines may be run to outdoor grills, garages, sheds, lights, pool heaters and other outdoor buildings.  These lines which are not installed by the gas company will not be marked by an 811 locator.
