Natural Gas Installation
A step-by-step guide to having natural gas installed in your home.

1

The first step in converting your home to natural gas is to see if it is available in your area. YCNGA serves York County, SC and the Blacksburg area of Cherokee County, SC. If you’re not certain whether YCNGA provides gas to your home, call us at 803-323-5304.

2

Once you’ve determined gas is available, complete our online application. Once your application has been submitted you will receive a call from a customer service representative to open your account. A credit check is completed and a deposit may be required.

3

YCNGA will install a service line from the street to your home up to 300 ft for free when you install both central heat and water heat. See current fees for additional information. Digging is required, but we will reseed the dig site and replace landscaping if necessary.

4

YCNGA, or another contractor of your choice, will run the inside gas piping to the location where your gas meter will be set. They may also be able to connect and convert your appliances.

5

The contractor will file for a permit and call to have their work inspected. Your local city/county inspections department will handle the inspection.

6

Once the inspection occurs and is approved, contact us at 803-323-5304 or toll free 866-578-4427 to schedule an appointment to have your natural gas meter set and activated.

7

Once the meter is activated, your contractor will need to return to your home to start your appliances and make sure they are working properly.
